We are spoilt for choice in the North West when it comes down to choosing which pantomime to take the family to this Christmas, but if it is the more traditional storytelling that you want to take your little ones to, then the Unity Christmas show could be just for you.
Unity have paired up with Action Transport Theatre who are the only Theatre Company dedicated to new writing for children in Cheshire and produce some of the best children's theatre around. They aim to produce a unique theatre experience for every child and Little Red and the Big Bad Wolf is no exception. The four strong cast are brilliant in their individual roles with Luca Rutherford as Little Red, setting just the right tone and the audience warmed to her straight away. Harvey Robinson as the Big Bad Wolf is charming and enough comedy has been put into the script to expose the nasty side of his character without frightening too many little ones. And with Nataila Campbell and Simone Lewis as the Mother and Grandma these four are strong in their storytelling and vocals.
This show ticks many boxes for a visual and entertaining children's show, with an impressive set from Sydonie Paterson alongside lighting from Julie Kearney, together they have produced an atmospheric show which the children cannot help but be drawn into. With clever ideas and direction from director Nina Hajiyianni and the beautiful score from composer and musical director Patrick Dineen, Action Transport have produced a beautiful Christmas show.
